Historic Places & Buildings

The historic research project began with our search for the Saxon Royal Palace tantalisingly recorded in the Saxon Charter of AD 692. Its exact location has not been found – yet.

During the course of our research we have discovered information about various estates within the parish of Dodderhill, and other linked areas.

There are a number of buildings which date back many centuries, some retaining ancient fabric within the present building, whilst others are rebuilt on an old dwelling place.  Building research and documents have revealed much about these properties.

As a group we have been fortunate to be given access to properties for building research.  Although details we can give are limited, it is possible to identify features often associated with historical properties.
