The spire of St Michael’s is a familiar landmark to travellers along the A38 near Webbs of Wychbold.  There was a priest here in 1086 when Domesday book was written, but the earliest part of the present church is the 13th century tower.  The remainder is mostly Georgian with a gallery to the west end.  The east window is unique, a gift of Rev. F.J.B. Hooper.  Outside, on the south side of the chancel is the headstone of Rev. Hooper’s grave, with a complex series of numbers engraved on it, looking like a form of sudoku.  There are some fine 17th and 18th century tombstones.
